Michael Burke, MD recently left a long career in academic psychiatry to join our staff. He originally came to Atlanta to attend Oglethorpe University and continued to live in Georgia as he is a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia. After his psychiatry residency program at Duke University he completed a fellowship in research with the National Institute of Health. He was recognized as a leader in treating challenging problems for patients and was involved in developing new treatment modalities for patients who were not responding to more conventional treatments.
In addition to his Board Certification in Psychiatry, he is Board Certified in Psychosomatics (the interdisciplinary medical field studying the relationships of social, psychological, and behavioral factors), is trained in the delivery of ECT, and is certified to prescribe suboxone, an office-based treatment for opiate dependence.
