My initial problems with this dentist began when they wanted to charge me the full price for all my services when I had insurance. I was told my insurance company would reimburse me. What is the point of having insurance if you are required to pay the full bill up front?

The second problem I had was when I attempted to decline x-rays. I was told by the receptionist that "x-rays are required by Florida law." Obviously they never heard of the Patients' Bill of Rights which states that every patient has the right to refuse medical treatment even if it is recommended by their physician(s). The reason I was told it was necessary was that I may have a tumor or something in my mouth and they could get sued if they don't look for these things. I believe it is my right to say that I am declining these services and willing to take that risk. While I understand that a dentist would want to do everything in their power to prevent problems, it should not be ok for them to lie to their patients by claiming there is a law that requires services when this is not true.

I will say that I did not have a problem with the dentist, it was the staff I had a problem with.
