Check your EOB if you get services from this dental provider. They made me pay upfront for a crown and then challenged me when I asked for a rightful refund for services not covered by insurance. In my case, they added an unauthorized "lab fee" to my bill. A quick call to my insurance company confirmed my suspicion that they WERE NOT ALLOWED by the terms of their contract with Delta Dental to charge me this $222 fee. On my initial call to the dentist office to request a refund, the office manager claimed that I was responsible for this out my own pocket. After a series of unpleasant back and forth phone calls with their office and Delta Dental, the office manager reluctantly agreed that they could not charge me this fee (even though they felt they deserved it because they use a "special lab"). I received a refund check yesterday in the mail along with a letter from Dr. Allan Linehan informing me that they will no longer be able to provide me with dental treatment - basically they fired me as a patient because I stood up for myself as a consumer. The letter stated that "Our lab fee pays for a high quality crown that will last for many years and comes with a guarantee. By cashing this refund check, you agree that we will not honor any guarantees that would have been in place for your crown." The letter goes on to say: "It is regrettable that our quality is not appreciated or valued."

I just returned from an appointment here and have absolutely no desire to return, even after just a 30 minute basic cleaning. To be fair, they did seem to have all the experience and competence needed to sufficiently care for anyone's teeth, so the basic service is there. Additionally, I will say that both Aaron and Casey were very sweet and helpful; I was quite pleased with all of my interactions with each of them. What deterred me was Dr. Linehan. He came off as incredibly pompous in quite a few ways, and even a bit rude if I can be honest. Admittedly, I have slacked off on flossing the last couple of months (as I told him, also), and proceeded to be told how many different diseases are linked to not flossing, etc., which seemed a bit over the top, but I do understand the purpose. Then he goes on to tell the random onlooker (Someone shadowing him I guess? He never explained why she was there/who she was.) that I am the kind of patient who "may not have a cavity, and whose teeth may look pristine," but "may lose my teeth in 50 years" because I don't floss enough, so he "tries to tell people this to save people from that one day at a time." Really? Come on now. If that's your passive-aggressive way of scaring me into flossing it's not working - just came off as rude given that I was obviously right there. And this is all after he looked at my mouth and asked who my orthodontist was, because "they clearly didn't do [me] any favors." I find that very hard to believe seeing as how every other dentist I've ever been to has always had the exact opposite remark.

All in all, I was highly unimpressed with Dr. Linehan. There are plenty of other highly competent dentists in the area who will treat me with the courtesy and respect I deserve as a customer, and I intend to give them my business instead.
