The very best place to take care over All you dental needs. I love the staff and I love everything about going to the dentist! Now!I am no longer dreading the Dentist! Thanks Sorrento Dentail you the best!
Here it is. Dr. Caruso and Dr. Steinke are excellent providers. Dr. Steinke is more patient friendly and is able to work with other dental professionals without his ego being threatened. His daughter is working toward this skill, but needs more practice to get away from the "I'm the doctor, I know best" mindset.
The quality of dentistry is top notch and notable for Downeast Maine. The office standards are clean, bright, and friendly. The staff (i.e. assistants) need alot of work to become more patient friendly. They are at times, rude and self important, and definitely not patient friendly unless someone is watching them.
Our issues with this practice are the billing practices that the office follows. At times, they mis-code procedures and bill the wrong amount to the patient or insurance company. Also, they do not have a good pay in full policy for those that don't have insurance. I listened to a woman yesterday who wanted to prepay her husband's bill before his treatment was completed to get the pre-payment discount. The receptionist and office manager were both prickly and told her that prepaying was to be done BEFORE the visit. The poor woman told them that the option wasn't given to her the night before when the appointment was made. She was in tears at least twice with Mr. Caruso's and Susie's attitudes.
It seems to me that if a person is willing to pay in cash, they should be given a discount, as this saves the office time, money, and materials with having no consecutive billing. All of the best practices (Machias Dental Care, etc) follow this practice with no penalties. Perhaps Mr. Caruso should learn how to be a real office manager, rather than "learn on the job."
