Time for routine cleaning. Was advised deep cleaning & scaling was needed. Understood the procedure needed but am unable to afford at this time. The office manager approved the regular cleaning. Prior to the regular cleaning, I was ask to sign a consent form acknowledging the condition and that the procedure would be done. I was unable to sign due to financial strains. I was denied the regular cleaning and informed the reason was due to Tennessee State Law. After speaking with my insurance carrier they stated this was a decision the establishment made but thought the dental caregivers should have given the regular cleaning to at least assist hygeine until I could do better. Very disappointed with the demanding procedure set. The visit before, I was ask to pull a wisdom tooth. This was also an issue because of previous problems with the removal of a tooth & finances. Seems caregivers should do what they can with what the patient is capable of dealing with instead of refusing covered treatment unless recommended treatment is a commitment. Very disappointed & sad about not getting the cleaning I was due.
