HI Doctor Meyer-
I hope this better finds you in good heath and continued success is your practice. I was a patient of yours over ten years ago. I submitted to most of the process and spent many Tuesdays or Thurdays in your mediation groups. I stopped by a few years ago to sat hello and to show you that I was one of the few to break free. I think I understood the parts of buddhism and addiction in general that really helps me preservere through my addiction. I ma by no means a saint, I have relapsed...never on opiates. But other substances, alcohol has lately because the obvious root of all the demons in my head.
There are two reasons for this email. The first is that I was wondering if you would he able to take me on as a student. I learned and have used so much I gained from you in so many situations that I am told often how effective the commnications skills I use are "special".
After spending a year or two as your patient I deoxed myself off of sunboxone. I gave up all my friends and I committed tohelping the world be a better place. I received my EMT-B license and chose to work in Lawrence MA. I wanted to be challenged and wanted to be exposed to all of my vices. While working as an EMT I entering an RN program at Middlesex Community College where I was awarded the leadership award by the nursing faculty. I then immediately completely MY Bachelor of Science in Nursing at UMASS Lowell and graduated Summa Cum Laude.
Since working as an EMT I have had countless intentions with addiction and overdoses. After obtaining my RN I chose to work in a Psychiatric hospital which also had it's fair share of dual dx patients. I've found I am able to connect in with many substance abuse patients in a way that the are never ready for or quite sure how to take. Most of the repsonses are positive...almost all know that I know whatI am tailking about with them.

As luck my have it, I am now working full-time at Hampstead Hospital on the their Adult dual DX unit which consists of about 90%detox patients. After being there for a few months I can see there are many things that can be improved upon. I feel like this like of work is my calling and I think I can do a lot of good things within in the field.

I'm hoping you will consider at least meeting with me to possibly diiscuss some options. Like, I said earlier, I learned an incrdible amount of knowledge that I still use on a daily basis. If nothing else, I would like to thank you for all you have done for me and all of the other patients you have helped.
