Was experiencing an illness and had not yet established a internal medicine doctor in the NJ area. So as my symptoms began to feel worsened, I set up an appointment with Dr. Anna due to the reviews I saw listed under her profile on zocdoc dot com. Things read like "a sense of humor", "friendly", "very nice", etc... all seemingly positive traits for the most part.

On the initial visit, I was there on time, as I filled out the medical forms online prior -- so not to have to wait any longer than necessary to see the doctor (as I was in pain). I filled out the my main reason for coming in. It was kept simple and legible: "Illness". When I finally sat down with Dr Anna she asked me again what I came in for and if I wanted/needed a physical check up as well. I restated what I wrote down: "I'm feeling really strangely ill..." also gesturing to where that exact location was on my body. She then asked again if I wanted to do a physical in addition on that visit. Puzzled, I assumed she was implying that it may be a good idea since I haven't had one since relocating to NJ.

So I nodded yes, while still gesturing my painful areas. She preceded to ask me further questions and was taking many notes. Something I thought was a "good" sign for a 1st time visit, right. However I did also find it rather strange that she was writing more often than providing me any solid eye contact, expressing any concern for my pain and actively investigating my "painful areas". She wrote so much down that I recalled to myself that no other doctor I ever visited before jotted down so many notes, consistently.

So directly after her extensive "note-taking performance", she ordered for me to unclothe from the waist up, and left the room. I assumed we were moving onto the 'physical check up portion of my visit' -- she said she'd check for things that may be associated to the pain area but owuld need to take numerous tests in order to know. No advice was given for in the mean time but a prescription for the pain. Something I knew I could not take due to its side effects. As they would induce the exact same symptoms I was feeling that led me to visiting Dr Anna's office in the first place. So her assistant/front desk scheduler comes in to take my blood pressure as well as do this full body check. She used this machine as a device to check my body by attaching these small adhesive patches connected to the device by strings all over my body in specific locations. Due to the moisture of my skin (from my lotion), she had a hard time keeping those patch-like adhesives attached to my skin. So not sure where that result comes out to or if it is printed out onto paper, but I have no idea what that procedure resulted to. I had to lie down in order for her to perform this procedure on me. I had to inquire what it was as I had never ever experienced such a thing during a doctor's visit/physical. Ever. She smirked and answered, "Really? That's strange..." as if I were out of the loop and that machine was like that of the latest medical technology in internal medicine offices to date.

She takes my blood; lots of it for tests I don't recollect; indicating that the doctor will be testing "everything" there is to test for me. Dr. Anna re-enters after her assistant is done to do the 'hands-on' check. This is when my yellow flag when to a serious red flag: Dr Anna, approaches me to run her hand from my pelvic area, pressing very lightly, to then making a general "swirl-like" movement with her hands up to my breast area. She then immediately walks back to her seat to pick up her note/board. Surprised at how aloof that moment came and went, I inquire how to check my breast for cancerous symptoms and general care...only because of how swift her hand moved over my skin. As if she did not wish to thoroughly check me physically, in the specific areas I pointed out were illness feelings. I suppose she thought I wouldn't notice the difference.

This deeply saddened me, mainly due to the fact that I was in severe pain and she wasn't at all concerned with that area nor doing a proper professional physical check up (as she would reiterate in the beginning). I was unable to advocate or speak up for myself due to the sever pains which frustrated me.

When that was done, I was told to come in the next day for an additional test in areas that I had not indicate were a problem. However I agreed in hopes this was an attempt to be "thorough" on her part. The next day I arrived 15mins early to my scheduled appointment, yet with no warm/concerned greeting from the doctor's scheduler/assistant (the woman who took my blood and did the full body check thing) as well as when I saw Dr Anna, I warmly smiled (fighting thru excessive pain) to say hello however to my surprise, she looks straight through me as though I wasn't there and then looks away. Never once acknowledging me and my husband's presence.

I then was ignored 25-30mins after my scheduled appt all the while the doctor switched roles with the front desk scheduler and never once looked up at me or inquire how I'm feeling. At all. I was baffled. In severe pain. Frustrated. Concerned. Puzzled. I had to say her name THREE times (as me and my hubby were the only ones in the waiting room at that time) to grab her attention! Puzzled, I said hello and asked her if she had any interests in me or bring me on as a new patient. I quickly shared with her that she ignored and looked straight through/past me when I warmly acknowledged her 40 mins ago. I also was growing impatient as the pain was growing severe, making it very difficult to keep a pleasant demeanor. I must have sunken into my lap and been frowning mins after our exchange. She completely brought my morale down further past it already was. Fixing to leave, she finally calls me in giving excuses as to why the wait was so long. I reminded her that she told me the earlier the better tomorrow as it will be a very quick check-in... confused and frustrated again.

She instructed after the procedure that I would have to wait to get my results in about a week and a half and proceed to schedule an appointment for me to return. Needless to say, as I'm awaiting her phone call in hopes she retrieved the blood tests much sooner, three days later I'm admitted into the ER. My conditions worsened and led me to multiple severe reactions. I couldn't do very much thereafter but rest however my husband phoned Dr Anna's office to request the test results be sent via snail mail as it wouldn't be possible for me to return to her office just to finally receive basic bloodwork tests.

Even then, the scheduler/receptionist/assistant was aloof, disinterested, unconcerned and expressing no hospitable tone regarding my current state at that time. Four days past and I call to follow up with the doctor's office again to make sure I receive some feedback due to all the blood work Dr Anna took weeks ago. They gave me a really difficult time, encouraging that I come into the office for my results, all the while IGNORING the fact that I was recently admitted to the ER and instructed NOT to do much activity at all. This included a trivial visit to a doctor's office for simple blood test results. Highly disappointed in this doctor. I ended up being patched through to a partnering doctor whom I never met or saw on either of my visits to discuss the blood test results. Highly intrusive in my opinion and most definitely unprofessional conduct in terms of honoring what the 'physician/patient' confidentiality usually ensures. Just overall looking to test everything to retrieve insurance monies. I am still awaiting my test results and it's going on week FOUR . Not nearly competent in any spectrum of patient care or professionalism as a doctor.

Over the phone her partnering doctor tells me the results came back generally in good health. Which makes no sense at ALL, considering I knew I wasn't in good health and that the ultimate reason for my visit in the first place was the severe pain I was experiencing. Not to mention, the urgent ER trip I had to make just three days thereafter visiting doctor Anna and providing her a solid amount of blood for her testing.
