And I have worked with... um... too many to count. I worked with Dr. Cristina Profumo on and off for several years. She is very skilled in psychotherapy as well as psychopharmacology. She is one of the few psychiatrists I have ever felt comfortable with. She doesn't push meds, but she doesn't deny them either. She is insightful and her comments to me were always helpful. She is a very kind and warm person, easy to talk to and stable. You can tell her anything -- she is non-judgmental. She doesn't' spend the therapy session raving about herself. She is entirely turned in to the patient.

She has a quick and bright intelligence and she is grounded in common sense -- not given to principled thinking. She cares and takes her job very seriously. She has a gift for therapy, unlike most psychiatrists. I still owe her $300 from at least a decade ago and she has never hounded me for the money. She knows I have been broke and probably she has forgotten about it. I haven't. I will pay her someday as soon as I have money available to me. She is worth it. A gem. A beautiful person, generous with her words. She is knowledgeable and culturally active in the community. Oh, and she has an excellent sense of humor. :) I would go to her still if I could afford to, but I have no insurance.

I highly recommend Dr Profumo. I really enjoyed working with her. She is a fantastic psychiatrist/therapist/psychopharmacologist, well-trained with experience in all areas. She treated me for my borderline personality disorder, anorexia, depression, anxiety, suicidality, and social phobia. She treated me and my illnesses with respect and undivided attention. She returns phone calls (unlike some others). My work with her helped me a great deal.
