dr shah did an anterior approach to my hip replacement. he damaged the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve but would not admit it. he kept telling me it was other problems not the damaged nerve. the pain from the damaged nerve is severe and debilitating.
i had a second opinion from another orthopedic surgeon and was told the lateral femoral cutaneous was in fact damaged and causing the horrible pain.
not only that but dr. shah made my leg one inch longer causing me great problems from that too. do i recommend him? i would say not.

EXCELLENT SURGEON & PERSON. HIGHLY RECOMMEND !!

I knew I needed to have my hip replaced (I had chosen the anterior method) so I was interviewing surgeons who used this procedure to find the best for me for my needs. My first good impression of Dr. Shah was that, even though he knew I was bringing my recent x-rays with me to the consultation, he ordered 3 additional views be taken so that he would know what he was dealing with. Then the moment I met him I knew that he was the right surgeon for me. He is very technically knowledgeable, he welcomed my questions and not once during the consultation did I feel that he was trying to cut the visit short.

Then for the surgery I chose to not have a general anesthetic but rather just a spinal block with no amnesia drug so that I would be aware of what was going on. He was no nonsense and down to business during the whole procedure. Then when it came time to fit the correct prosthesis he kept checking and testing until it was as perfect as he could get it. I had surgery on a Friday and he even came in to the hospital on Saturday to see me. Every time I have called his office with a question or concern they always respond very promptly.

Dr. Shah has a warm bedside manner, a nice dry sense of humor and is humble (he is not full of himself like many a medical professional). You cannot go wrong with Dr. Shah if you need a hip or a knee. I will be seeing him again shortly for my 6 week follow up. I live four hours away and it was so worth it for me to go to Eugene to have him as my surgeon
