I was a particularly difficult patient/case. Dr. Maughan was my last hope for help with my "mysterious" illness/condition. He worked very hard to figure out a diagnosis and a treatment. I had literally been dropped by my other OBGYN who knew me very, very well for many years and delivered my only child because he drew a conclusion that I was either "drug seeking" or just flat out lying. All because he could not see what was wrong to his blind eye. Dr. Maughan went way over and beyond to help me. He believed me and came up with a simple way to determine if in fact my illness/condition and pain were truly due to my uterus. He went "old school" and numbed it like back in the day before epidurals and we waited about 30 mins. Sure enough all the symptoms were gone (had a little pressure feeling due to my muscles being tense). I had suffered excruciating pain and had every test in the world for "elimination" purposes; and he figured out a way to determine where the pain was coming from in 1 appointment and had me pain free in 30 mins! Because I was sooo young (24) he knew it was going to be a fight with my insurance to allow a total hysterectomy, which was the only treatment/cure for my condition, but he went to bat for me and got it approved. He was so sweet because he knew it would be very hard to for me in the future because I would not be able to have anymore children. I had one when I was 20 and he would be the only child I could have. He spoke in depth with me about what struggles I would face emotionally and mentally if not instantly then down the road when I fell in love and married, once he knew I understood the magnitude of the procedure we agreed to go ahead with the surgery. He had me scheduled within days for surgery. When I woke up he sat with me and explained all he had discovered during the procedure; I had the most severe case of Adenmyosis he had ever seen. I was so severe that if I had gotten pregnant it would not only be unbearably painful, but I had little chance of carrying to full term. My Uterus was 150% bigger than it should have been. Most importantly, to me at least, he validated my pain and suffering. He simply said “It’s no wonder you were in so much pain”. I am forever grateful that I was able to find Dr. Maughan and that he was willing to take me on as a patient. There is no one else I would recommend to any woman than Dr. Maughan.

In General:
It was so nice to arrive and see many fully qualified staff members. I've gone to some places that were very understaffed and I've never had a good experience. This place had a great staff though, and I'll definitely be going back. I could tell that they took pride in their office's appearance. It was very well organized and well taken care of. They were so respectful and kind. They went above and beyond what I would expect and really made me feel welcome. Not only do my appointments never get canceled last minute, they take time out of their day to send me a reminder so I don't forget. They are extremely reliable.

This is my first pregnancy and Dr.Maughan is great he gets right to the point, answers any questions and is just an all out nice guy.
