Had a loved one sent for rehabilitation. During the 15 day stay I tried addressing issues and visited to make sure it was known I was aware of things and trying to comfort my loved one to help get through the stay. Heard of Staff verbally abusing residents and unfortunately the lack of care has caused a set back in recovery. Weight loss, sores on skin from bad hygiene. Sent home with a wheelchair that was covered in food and something in the seat that should have been addressed. Was given a response to an issue I addressed with staff with a lie as I sat in front of the nurse unknown to the other I was at the facility getting a text to the response of the issue I had addressed. My loved one seen upon discharge was very weak and malnourished. Within 24 hours could not get out of bed, vitals dropped to the point of having to call an ambulance to return to the hospital. My loved one was placed in ICU.
Just always remember what you see is not always what you get. It is so easy to put forth a front. Not everyone will have the best interest of your loved one and they will do their best to cover their trails. It is a shame health care gets away with what they do. Nursing home stories are not just stories, it is sadly events our loved ones have lived out in the hands of others. Very upset.
