I recently had several opportunities to spend time at the nursing facility while visiting my elderly parent. I found the facilities to be well below expected standards. While the hallways smelled very strongly of chlorine, the rooms appeared to be minimally maintained. All equipment was old, rusted and needing of replacement. The nursing staff appears to only be equipped with monitoring and providing of medications. In general, staff appeared to be more interested in sharing information with other staff concerning personal activities and for the most part, residents were ignored or left on their own. Frequent calls for help were ignored - including when asking to be taken to the rest room. My parent begged to be taken home and I would have done that in a heartbeat had I been able to make that decision. The food looked disgusting - at least what I was able to personally observe. I do believe our parents deserve better and at the price of their stay should definitely be getting better. If you truly care about your loved ones, find another option. They are already suffering enough.
Terrible!!!! Never can find a wash cloth or towel. Ice only gets passed to the residents a few days a week. Staff is always calling in or coming in late. Many aides have a "chip on their shoulder". Labs are drawn whenever they want to draw- not as ordered by doctor. Supper is terrible. Aides don't properly dress confused residents. Chain of command is broken. Many residents are wet for HOURS! Smokers run the place. Diabetic residents are not monitored of their dietary intake. Some doctors don't address issues in a prompt manner.
