Dr. Thomas Stickel has been an optometrist with The Eye Center since 2002. As an optometrist licensed in the State of Missouri, he is experienced in diagnosing, managing, and treating diseases of the eyes.
In December 2004, Dr. Stickel became a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO). This is an advanced optometric certification that has been earned by less than 10% of optometrists in private practice. The doctors who are awarded this certification have completed a number of research case studies on complex conditions they have treated.
Dr. Stickel is a graduate of the Indiana University School of Optometry. At the University, he was a four-year member and president of Beta Sigma Kappa, the Optometric Honor Society. He was also named an Edwards Fellow and Chancellor’s Scholar for excellence in academic achievement and community service. Dr. Stickel’s studies of contact lenses won several national and University awards for student research, and his work has been published in several scientific journals. He has trained with specialists in many areas of medical eye care including cataract surgery, laser eye surgery, and diseases of the retina and cornea.
