Buyer beware!!! More specifically, NATURAL ladies beware!!! This is my honest review of a one-time service with Crystal Coleman at Anointed Hands Hair Studio in Fredericksburg, VA.
I went to Crystal for the first time back in AUGUST to get my hair straightened - she referred to the service as a "silk-out". Please note that I have natural hair - very thick, coarse 4C textured hair. I have been natural since 2008.
Upon arriving, Crystal shampooed and conditioned my hair, then put me under the dryer (she put a conditioner or some sort of cream on my hair). She says that she used all natural products on my hair, by the way.
After being under the dryer for maybe 30 minutes, she then proceeded to trim and straighten my hair using a flat iron. Everything so far seemed normal and seemed to be going well.
Once my hair was straightened and trimmed, Crystal styled my hair, and I was out the door looking good! I received many compliments on how nice and straight it was - even that it looked as if I was wearing a wig!
I got my hair done in the beginning of August. We are now at the end of November, and my hair is STILL STRAIGHT!!! I have shampooed and conditioned it countless times and even done a protein treatment since my hair appointment in AUGUST - simply to no avail. It looks to me as if I received a texturizer. My hair does not curl up, kink up, coil up, nothing. I can't wear a fro or puff or wear any two-strand twists or twist-outs now. My hair is limp and lifeless - much like it was when I would relax it.
I called Crystal a week after I received my service and after I had shampooed/conditioned my hair - and it was STILL as straight as it was when I walked out of her shop. I explained to her my situation, and she simply stated that she had used all natural products and would have charged me extra for using any relaxing/chemically straightening products. No remorse.
Really and truly, I am STILL furious with how my hair is now. I feel as if I can't do anything; I can either suck it up and grow it out OR I can cut it all off and start fresh. Either way, my hair is RUINED. If I could go back in time, I would have cancelled my appointment for sure. To add salt to a wound, I paid her $75 to ruin my hair.
Disappointing. First, they are quite rude and don't seem to like children in there. Then she did things she wasn't asked to do, and didn't ask us if she could do to our little ones hair. We didn't want it straightened, but she took it upon herself to do it. We guess it was so she could charge more. We were not prepared to pay $45 for a child's haircut!! Then they don't accept cards on Saturdays!!! What??? Whatever you do, don't bring your children here either to get their hair done, or to wait for you to get yours done!
