Dr. McKay is the very best animal doctor ever because he loves what he is doing and makes you feel special when speaking to you. The staff is excellent and always very nice and polite.
I have two German Shepherds and I feel they get the best care possible from Doctor McKay.

After our last vet closed, we looked around a bit, and seemed to keep running into the same problem. You walk in the door and dollar signs light up in people's eyes. They push crazy supplements and grooming services you don't need. They guilt you for feeding anything other than their expensive brands. It can feel like buying a used car.

This vet operates a small office (2 vets and a few vet techs). They aren't going to give your dog a blueberry-acai facial, but they trim nails and do other necessary grooming. The entire staff stops and listens to you, which seems like a minor miracle these days. The vets offer down-to-earth advice, and have a wide range of supplements if you ask for them, though they are never shoved down your throat. They are kind and compassionate, knowledgeable, prompt and dependable. It seems like you can really trust them. One thing that really caught my attention is that the vet gets all the way down on the floor for nervous dogs, and don't manhandle them until the dog willingly comes to them.

The most amazing thing, though, was that one of the vets is a volunteer fireman. My in-laws had a fire last year, and the vet opened the clinic and treated two cats with third-degree burns free of charge (and they stayed in the animal hospital there for six weeks or so). Breathing treatments, antibiotics, the whole nine yards for barn cats, just out of kindness and compassion. Both cats survived, and one has gone on to have several litters of kittens.
