Dr. Nieves is extremely thorough. He takes his time with my dogs and always fully understands what is going on and discusses treatment options. He is kind and gentle and very caring. I trust him to give the utmost care of my dogs.

Dr. Nieves is the best! He was recommended to me by the Admissions Dir. at UK's Veterinary School, which, unfortunately, focuses on horses. He is her personal vet.

He took my financial situation (unemployed) into account when recommending a treatment for my cat, for which I'd received a quote of over $700. He took the time to culture the offending organism, and we started on antibiotics first. When this didn't "fix" the problem, he did do the procedure I'd been told about, but it was several hundred dollars cheaper, and he let me pay over a few months. The information he provided about this was very helpful, since a scare tactic had been used on me with the veterinarian with the expensive treatment suggestion. I'd been led to believe that my cat would die if she didn't have this treatment, and Dr. Nieves put it all in perspective, plus gave me a preventive treatment to keep it from recurring.

He clearly loves animals, literally getting on the floor to play with my dog, and has been SO helpful, even when I had an after hours emergency. I couldn't be happier with him, and the services I receive at Beaumont. The booklet he put together for new patients emphasizes how important it is to him that his "patients"' owners learn about their pets, and how to better care for them. And, through his website, lower cost medications/flea treatments, etc. can be ordered.

I highly recommend Dr. Nieves and his staff!
