Dr Wilson and his staff are wonderful providers of animal care. They are also so helpful and kind to the pet parents. My 3 cats have been cared for by Dr Wilson for most of their lives. They are now 18, 18 & 19 years old. He is very forthcoming with issues and treatments. But is also willing to listen to any questions and concerns from me. He has called me late into the evening hours just to deliver blood test results. I would, and have, recommended him to my friends and family. I even recommended him to someone I had a brief conversation with at Petco! You can be assured that your pets will receive excellent care from Wilson Veterinary Hospital.

FIRST BEAWARE THAT DR WILSON IS NOT A BOARD CERTIFIED TO PERFORM SURGERY ON YOUR PET:
My 7 year old best friend in the world; Midget, Chihuahua, 12 lb; my baby girl, started walking on just 3 legs about a month prior. I had a regular vet in Ogden Utah who had seen Midget for years and treated her for an in large Liver and heart issues midgets was on special meds, science diet dog food and can GD heart food. I had moved a year ago to Bountiful Utah to live with a boyfriend. The boyfriend had his vet; Dr. Jim Wilson who was close to his home and suggested that I use his vets Dr. Wilson. I agreed and we went to his vet and meet with Dr Swain on Friday February 28th who told me that Midget needed surgery; she said I needed to keep Midget from walking on her leg or it would heal deformed or worse off. I explained to this vet all of Midgets medical conditions and special diet. She told me the surgery was still needed at that a Dr Wilson would perform the surgery. We scheduled the surgery for March 7th, 2014. I called early that morning with a complete list of questions I went over with the receptionist at the vet hospital. I explained to her that I would need to meet with Dr. Wilson who would be doing the surgery before the surgery. I had a bad gut feeling but I felt I was getting a second opinion by seeing the Dr Wilson first. When I arrived at the vet hospital at about 8:30 am for the surgery as I was waiting in the room I videotaped my baby girl before the surgery letting her know how much I loved her, that we were just going to fix her leg and that everything would be ok. Then I re-turned on my camera phone to tape the conversation with Dr Wilson. On the tape it is very clear that I had brought a copy of my Ogden Vets business card and requested for this surgeon to contact my vet for Midgets medical information, I explained in detail that Midget had a liver problem and was on heart medication, I did let him know that Midget did not seem to be in any pain. I had Dr. Wilson re-exam Midget to make sure she really needed this surgery. Dr. Wilson did just that and re-assured me that the surgery was needed. Dr Wilson had not taken the Ogden vet information from me. So as I was leaving I asked if he was sure he did not need to contact my vet, Dr Wilson informed that he would do all the blood work himself. Then I asked if Midget could die from this surgery he said that she should be fine, but with all surgery’s there always a risk. Dr. Wilson DID NOT MENTIONS that Midget would be in any kind of extra danger due to all her medical conditions. I said my good bye to my baby girl not realizing that this would be my last words spoken to my best friend; Midget. When I got home I text my boyfriend letting him know I felt better about the surgery after meeting with Dr Wilson. I felt that he would do all required test to make sure that Midget was healthy enough for the surgery. At 1:47pm I received a call from Dr Wilson, I said Hi how is Midget doing, Dr. Wilson told me that she died, that her blood pressure went crazy and she stopped breathing, I pretty much went into shock, I could not believe it, I never hurt so bad in my life. I could not even talk to this person. I called my boyfriend and we went down there right away, I was able see my baby girl for one last time. I took pictures of Midget, my boyfriend videotaped my last good bye of me holding my baby girl, with kisses and hugs as my tear feel and I cried my heart out as the office manager explained to me and tried to comfort me over my baby’s death… I am so broken over this, not a day goes by nor will another day go by without me watching and viewing all my videos of my sweet angel’s last day... Midget; May 5th, 2006-March 7th, 2014. I will never forgive myself for this. Nor will I excuse the Dr Wilson for killing my dog. I later spoke with my vet that confirmed Midget should have never had this surgery with her medical history. I did file a complaint with the Utah Vetinarian Board today. If I can save one dog or owner from experiencing this. I have complete copies of the videos; I would like to share with others before allowing Dr. Wilson to treat your pet, including that complete conversation with Dr. Wilson; who killed my baby. 3/27/2014_ I just got a letter from the Utah State Division of Occupational Licensing, All it said was the investigation was complete concerning my complaint regarding Dr. Jim Wilson, that appropriate action has been taken. The complaint and collateral documentation obtained during the investigation will remain in the Division files which are classified and private and protected.
