My husband was receiving drugs for home IV use and coming in to the office once a week for labs. With the new year, our insurance changed and when they went to charge for the week's supply, the insurance showed as not active. He signed a paper they gave him saying that he would be responsible for anything the insurance didn't pay, and they said they would contact us the next day about delivering his drugs. They didn't. On the following day we called them. They demanded $28,000 on the spot to provide his drugs. With some discussion, they agreed to a payment arrangement in the event the insurance didn't come through. They still did not arrange for us to get the drugs. In the meantime, we contacted our insurance company and straightened everything out. Finally, with Ambient on one phone and our insurance company on another, they could see that we had valid insurance and agreed to prepare the drugs, but because it was late in the day we would have to pick them up after 11 the next day, when we were out of supplies (three hours late for his dose). When we arrived at the facility, they refused to allow us to do the infusion there. My husband got on the phone with management to complain; we had business meetings and driving home, doing the half-hour infusion and then driving back to Tampa would make us miss our business obligations. While he was on the phone I went back to the office; I thought that if they provided me with a couple of alcohol wipes and a pair of gloves we could go to a coffee shop and do the infusion. They refused to open the door, without even finding out why I was there! Today when we called the nurse to find out when he should go to the office to get his labs and dressing change she said she had been told my husband was no longer getting service, apparently in retaliation for his complaints. No one even contacted us about it!
This was not our first problem. When my husband's prescription changed, the new drugs weren't delivered along with the rest of his supplies. We called, and it took hours to get it straightened out for the next morning and by then his dose was six hours late. They also did not send his lab results to his doctor for a month.
My complaint has nothing to do with the nurses who have helped my husband. The nurses were very nice and knowledgeable.
