The owner has sexually harassed me when I was employed by him. He would parade me all over his gym saying he "loves me" while telling everyone in the gym to look at my body and how great it is. The first day that I worked there, he told me how no matter how old he is he would never stop having sex and I should make my man happy (whoever that might be) with sex. He would make vulgar comments about my body and even tell me that he would hurt somebody for me. He is also an extreme racist telling me that "black people aren't intelligent it's no secret that it never worked out with my black workers," his father would call me "laquisha" He talks disrespectfully about his members at the gym on one instance making a joke about how a gay man was walking like a "F" and that one woman he was training (if you're still there blonde lady that went to vacation when I was there...yes I'm talking about you but I don't want to reveal your name and hurt you...you are a very sweet lady but the owner talks about you saying that you "b" at him if he leaves your sight) was a b. this man has gotten away with too much and it disgusts me that I have no say in the matter. He also used to call my family members to get in touch with me when I was not working and tell me his personal dating problems. Stay away from this gym especially if you are a women, personal of color, or gay. He makes fun of all of you.
New dorp Fitness - Where should I start? First off cleanliness is not even a minor priority. I think the owner thinks if his mirrors are constantly cleaned people wont notice the slime that coats every inch of all the circa 1980's dumbells and Sears special treadmills. There are no dissenfective spray bottles available which im sure is a cost cutting measure. If there are more than 6 people in the gym at the same time it becomes too crowded (not an exaggeration). And with all the severe lack of gym amenitys, the dillusional owner still charges exorbitant prices. Now about the gym owner, Phil. This is one creepy fellow who thinks his gym is his home basement and everyone who joins is automatically his friend. The man is constantly fraternizing with the members to the point of harrassment. He thinks hes the ultimate fitness authority because he won Mr Staten Island in like 1990 which he displays proudly all over his gym. Basically, besides being the ugliest human being on earth, he alone makes the New Dorp Fitness gym experience very uncomfortable!
