About
Mound Psychological Services
Mound Psychological Services was originally opened in 1994 in Mound, Minnesota, because, despite the fact that it was part of Hennepin County, there were virtually no mental health services in that area. In 1996, we opened an office in St. Louis Park to better serve clients in the West Metro area.
Our philosophy was, and still is, to provide needed services to those who otherwise couldn't access them. As a result, we added more providers to meet the needs of children and families. Now, we offer services for children, adolescents, families, couples, the GLBT community, and veterans. We offer an extensive range of services to meet the unique needs of our clients. These services range from help with ADHD, Aspergers, and behavior problems to personal growth, women's issues, and parenting and further, to anxiety, trauma, depression, and guilt. We offer a variety of treatment types, including those with extensive clinical research support. For a complete list of training and specialties, please see our "Services" page.
Health care and insurance are expensive, so for those without insurance coverage or those who choose not to use insurance to pay for services, we utilize a sliding-fee scale, based upon income. We try to see new clients within a week of their initial request for services, and often are able to see clients within days of their request for services.
Clients are seen as experts on themselves, so we work collaboratively with our clients and from many relevant angles to get a more complete resolution to their issues. We try to take fewer clients and see existing clients on a frequent basis (usually weekly or every other week) with the hope of speeding recovery for those in pain and distress. We see our work as a calling, to help people heal, and find our jobs to be incredibly rewarding. We truly feel that we have the best jobs in the world.
