Back in June, 2015, I was in the process of looking for a new program to help with my administrative process (scheduling, billing, and patient demographics) for my private practice (mental health professional). I was referred to Alan Schwartz by one of my professional colleagues, regarding a new software program called "Clinician's Mind." On June 23, 2015, I contacted Mr. Schwartz by email to inquire about the program and its capabilities. Alan and I had 2 more email communications until August 14, 2015 when I finally decided to purchase the product and my credit card was billed as well as a confirmation email was sent to me which also included the instructions for registering the software. The cost for the software was $520. There was also an option for a $100 1st year trial and then pay $450 after the 1st year to buy the program outright. During the next 2 months, I tested the software and found it to not be exactly what I was looking for. On October 14, 2015, I emailed Mr. Schwartz stating that I did not want to continue with the product and would I be able to downgrade to the $100 1st year trial. Mr. Schwartz responded on October 16, 2015 that there was a "60 day free trial" that covered the software. That was the first that I had heard about the 60 day free trial as Mr. Schwartz had never mentioned that previously. From this point, the email communications begin to become defensive and unprofessional by Mr. Schwartz, in the end resulting in him claiming he cannot not give me back a refund based on the free trial period and that he could not give me the 1st year $100 rate as well. I feel his tactics appear to be sketchy and his lack of professionalism makes for a very disheartening customer experience. I think his defensive stance throughout our communications and his in adherence to his own policies/claims are concerning and beg the question how Mr. Schwartz is handling all of his customer interactions.
I have the original email thread if anyone would like confirmation of the negative experience. This is extremely disheartening especially considering the field (mental health services) that we are both a part of.
