I have been in practice since 1989, and serving the Canonsburg/McMurray/Peters Township area since 1995. I work with adult clients on most issues, including the following specific areas: • Compulsive/Emotional Overeating • Self-Defeating Patterns • Relationship Issues • Depression • Anxiety • Self-Esteem • Grief/Bereavement • Emotional Abuse • Codependency • Communication Skills • Life Enhancement & Balance Strategies • Recovery Enhancement (any addiction) In addition to my therapy practice, I am dedicated to community wellness and education. Toward this end, I have published numerous articles and informational brochures on a variety of health and life management topics, which are available for you on the Articles Page of my website. I am on a personal mission to increase public understanding of compulsive overeating, along with increasing the availability of effective treatment for it. I have presented numerous community workshops on the topic of overeating; in these workshops, we explore why overeating is so prevalent and what it takes to overcome it. The most recent locations for these workshops have included Christ United Methodist Church in Bethel Park, as well as The Washington Hospital and Canonsburg General Hospital in Washington County. I have also conducted training sessions for local healthcare professionals at Gateway Rehabilitation Center, the Mid-Atlantic Addiction Research and Training Institute, and Mercy Behavioral Health. Regardless of the issue you wish to work on in therapy, my services to you will be based on the following framework: • I will draw upon a variety of clinical approaches in order to customize therapy to your personal needs and circumstances. My primary emphasis is on developing a solid working relationship with you, and achieving clearly defined results in accordance with goals you identify. • Life change occurs primarily in what you do between therapy sessions, based on insights and skills developed during sessions. Therefore, I will often suggest homework or experiments for you to try in between our meetings. • My job is to help you reach your goals in a way that you can reliably maintain after our work together has ended. • I respect your time, energy and money as valuable, limited resources. My goal is to help you obtain optimum results with the most economical use of these resources. After all, life is meant to be lived, not spent in therapy.
