I had to have my beloved dog put down. Worst experience in my life. First she put the needle in wrong and hurt him. This was a lab who wagged his tail his whole life for vaccinations, shots, and IVs. Then, she gave the "kill shot" immediately rather than sedating him so he would relax. I had to hold him down so he didn't bite her...and he had never, ever had an aggressive bone in his body! He howled in pain as he convulsed so hard the needle came out. He was incapacitated, but not dead. She had to put the IV in his back leg to complete the job. I have had to have four other dogs put to sleep. As a pet owner it's a gut-wrenching decision, but it's so you can gently help them die rather than suffer. It's been a difficult decision, but peaceful for the dog as they just fell asleep. This was anything but, it was absolutely AWFUL. I'll never take another dog to her ever again. It was a terrible experience that has caused nightmares ever since. It makes me sick to think my sweet dog knew I was allowing this, and held him down for it. My dogs as family. It was awful.
