I do not recommend Millersville Animal Hospital for any surgical procedures. Our four year old dog was having issues expressing his anal glands - they were filling up about every two weeks and he was unable to express them on his own. I mentioned this to his vet and the first thing he recommended was surgery. He informed he had done the surgery plenty of times and made it seem like a routine procedure with no mention of complications.

We scheduled the surgery and a few days prior to the surgery; I called to discuss the risks as I had heard that there can be some serious complications. Again, I was informed that this was a routine surgery and not risky.

Trusting the hospital, we took our dog in for anal gland removal surgery. Needless to say, he suffered MAJOR complications. The doctor who initially performed the surgery realized that he had nicked an artery unknowingly. Instead of taking our dog straight to the emergency hospital, he decided to perform another exploratory surgery to try and find the bleeding. He couldn’t and that was when he was rushed to the emergency veterinary surgery center for a life-saving operation and his third surgery in less than 24 hours.

After a week in and out of the emergency hospital, infections and thousands of dollars later, we went back for our post-op appointment with the emergency surgeon. While we had all remained hopeful for a full recovery throughout this entire ordeal, we were officially told that he will more than likely be fecal incontinent for the rest of his life due to the mistakes of the original surgery with our vet. The surgeon informed us that many vet hospitals refer their animals to the surgery center for these complicated surgeries as the general vets are not trained in this type of surgery. Due to the carelessness of the vet's initial surgery, our dog and our families life has been changed forever. Again, do not go to Millersville for any surgeries and make sure to do a ton of research prior!

They always make an extra effort to make me feel respected and attended to. They always listen to every question or concern I may have. They always have an immediate answer for me when I call with a question. They would never try to get me to make an appointment unless I really needed one. They always return my phone calls quickly. I always know that I'll get a prompt answer to my question. I always have the best experience every time I have an appointment here. Although I have not had much to complain about, I have noticed that they strongly adhere to the customer is always right policy and if anything goes wrong make every effort to correct the situation. Whenever I make an appointment, I'm always confident that they're going to be ready for me at my scheduled time. At other places I've been to, it's always bothered me when they postpone my appointment, but they've never done that here.
