About
Dr. Laura Lefkowitz, DVM, completed her veterinary degree at the University of Minnesota in 1993. After graduating she practiced preventative medicine in a five doctor family practice in western Massachusetts for nine years.
Following her adventurous spirit she left veterinary medicine for a one year period to pursue a self -supported around the world bicycle tour. Her trip allowed her to become immersed in third world medicine as well as develop new perspectives on medical therapies. Arriving in Boise after the completion of her trip, Dr. Lefkowitz pursued a career in emergency medicine which led her to Westvet Animal Emergency and Specialty Center; she has been practicing with us as an emergency and critical veterinarian since 2004.
Dr. Lefkowitz lives with her long-term partner Andrew as well as one mischievous poodle, two ornery birds, and two timid cats. Her interests outside of work include downhill skiing, riding dressage with her horse, biking and oil painting.
