This hospital looks like a place that you would go to only if you had limited insurance coverage. It desperately needs to be remodeled. It is very hospital looking and not cheery or modern. When it rains some areas leak. Some of the windows have cracks in them. Most of the staff seems dedicated and they try to do their best, but the hospital seems understaffed many times. During the day it seems to be better staffed than in the evenings. Sometimes things get disconnected from the patient or are not working correctly and it is not corrected unless a family member notices and tries to find someone to fix it. If the patient is unable to call the nurse, they may be in trouble because the nurses are so busy that they sometimes can't get to them on a regular basis. The x-ray techs do an awesome job as well as the doctors who come for follow-up visits. Although it would be nice if there was an onsite doctor present at all times for emergencies instead of a nurse having to contact them if a problem arises.
TL;DR: Do not go here! Absolutely no sanitation! Outdated technology and un-knowledgeable staff! Complete con artists! This place should NOT even be accredited!
Do NOT go to this hospital under ANY circumstances!!!!
I took my girlfriend here because she was having horrible hallucinations due to a 103 fever. When we got to the ER they refused to take her immediately, forced her to fill-out her own paperwork and made her sit on the floor because they're were no chairs available. They made her wait in the waiting room for 2 hours, forcing her to deal with her hallucinations and pain.
The ladies at the front desk were rude and refused to talk to anyone to get an update for us or if we can be seen any quicker.
When we finally got her into the ER, they ran a CT scan and came back saying she was suddenly borderline for appendicitis (something we didn't even go in for). The finance person there was quick to want the insurance card, they refused to do any treatment until we paid. Eventually they ended up admitting her to the hospital and kept her overnight.
There is absolutely no sanitation in this hospital, trash (discarded needle and IV packages) was pretty much thrown everywhere. The paint is dirty and peeling. The floor is disgusting and the patient bathrooms are appalling.
A doctor introduced himself to my girlfriend and told her it didn't look like appendicitis but they aren't sure. He said he'd check back in a few hours to make sure, after that we never saw him again. We asked the nurses and they said he went home.
In the two days that they kept my girlfriend, they never once gave her any updates about her condition, they just continued to starve her and load her up with pain meds. They kept her in this hospital for two days, scaring her into thinking she had appendicitis. They even tried to force her to stay there when we came to transfer to a different hospital. They forced her to sign a "leaving against doctors orders" form even though no doctor had talked to her about the dangers of leaving.
We transferred her to Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, immediately they took her in, no wait at all and were able to determine that all she had was the stomach flu. They were able to diagnose this within not even 2 hours. They sent her home with some meds and she is perfectly fine now.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES GO TO COAST PLAZA HOSPITAL!! They will view you has a number / a source of money, not a patient or even a human being.
