If I could give no stars I would. This is by far the worst Rehabilitation Center I have ever come across.
My mother is a terminally ill patient there as we speak. She was sent there 4 weeks ago to undergo "physical therapy" which consisted of giving her a 1 lb weight. The nursing staff is terrible, abusive, very negligent and half of the time didn't seem to know what they were doing. Only person who seemed to know what they were talking about was a man from wound care. I never got to meet my mothers Kindred doctor. The nurses accused and lied to the nursing supervisor about my mothers fluid intakes.
Half of the machines in the room dont work or are outdated. The computer system didnt seem to work very well either.
I could make a laundry list of things wrong with Kindred.
Please, for the love for your family member please look eles where when needing long term rehab. This place is utter garbage.

I am an RN, currently working on my MSN.

My dad was sent to Kindred for rehabilitation following a long ICU stay.
The hospital staff were friendly, but the care was simply awful.
The first day we got there it took 30 minutes for anyone to answer the call-light and when they did, all they could do was make excuses about how busy they were. This continued throughout his 4 week stay and only improved slightly after many of our complaints. Our family ended up doing most of the care ourselves. One time when my dad needed help, after waiting over 30 minutes for a response, I actually had to go out in the hallway and scream for a nurse because they simply ignore call-lights.

One week into his stay there was no concrete plan for his rehabilitation and discharge and the only reason his rehabilitation got underway a week after admission was because we requested a family meeting with staff to find out what the goals were.

There is no continuity of care. Zero. My dad had a different nurse every day- every shift. Meaning there was no chance for a nurse to get to know him and his situation in a way that would allow her/him to provide personalized care and plan interventions that are patient-centered.Some of his nurses walked into the room and admitted not knowing why he was even there. They had not even read his chart, but came into the room to "take care of him".

The nursing assistants were rough and careless in moving and repositioning him.

The wound care he received was poor, the technique was insonsistent - for example- when his wound dressing became soiled with stool it took- more than 1 1/2 hours to get a nurse to change it- therefore exposing his wound to serious risk for infection. The wound care specialist was very open to our concerns and proceeded to educate staff, but his instructions to staff went unheeded. After he taught my mom how to do the dressing change, the nurses contradicted what he said and did the wound care the way they thought best- not the way the wound care specialist stated.

The idea of patient/family education was almost non-existent. Whenever we asked why they were doing something the answer was "that's just the way we do it" or "that's the policy". When we asked why that was the policy we weremade to feel like "a difficult family".

The management was only mildly interested in our concerns and we just got more excuses as to why the care was so poor. However, they did seem very interested on whether our supplemental insurance would pay for an extended stay. They have severely understaffed their hospital. The nurses are frazzled and have ZERO autonomy. The concept of Nurse-Sensitive Outcomes did not seem to be incoporated in the care at all. (these are patient outcomes that are known to be affected by the quality of nursing care provided- please google it)

All in all a bad experience. I would never send any family member to this place unless there were significant changes made.

Is our MD refers you to this hospital, just say NO.
