After over two years of seeing a counceler with this agency, we received a phone call the day before a scheduled appointment to say that our daughters counceler is no longer with the agency.
There was no closure meeting, and no explanation other than "sometimes things like this occur in life" We were told, by the director, first that she didn't know. Then when pressed for an answer, I mean really, if you're the director and you don't know, who does , we were simply told our counceler was no longer affiliated with Baker Victory services and due to confidentiality, no other information could be given. Our daughter, who already struggles with abandonment and trust issues is beside herself.
She is asking is her counceler ok or sick or did something happen to her etc. She is very upset that after over two years she will never see this person again, and didn't even get to say goodbye.
The director didn't even offer to meet with us or her to explain it, just a cold impersonal phone call from the receptionist saying that our appointments were canceled and this counceler is no longer working there. I understand, as the director put it when I called her, that life happens, but I am truly disappointed at how insensitively the situation was handled.
