I am a psychologist/psychoanalyst, trained at the NYU Postdoctoral Program in Psychoanalysis. I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at NYU in 1984 and have been in full time private practice for 38+ years. I am on the faculty of the Institute of Contemporary Psychotherapy, in NYC, where I teach and supervise. I also am on the faculty of the Stephen Mitchell Center in NYC where I also teach and supervise. In addition, I am on the faculty of the NYU Postdoctoral Program and supervise there as well.
I have given many presentations at psychoanalytic conferences over the years and have published articles in leading journals. A subspecialty of mine is working with eating disordered patients and have a well read paper entitled "The Armored Self: The Symbolic Significance of Obesity." My most recent paper is entitled "The Power of Affective Truth in Both Artistic Expression and the Therapeutic Action of Psychoanalysis."
