I had a terrible experience with Dr. Kaplan. I brought my son to her at the urging of his school, who felt that his behavior issues must result from a diagnosable condition. Dr. Kaplan was one of the few psychologists whose evaluations the school accepted, as she apparently had a history with them. From the outset, Dr. Kaplan approached the evaluation giving more weight to the information she received from the school than the information she received from me, from an independent psychologist who had previously evaluated and worked with my child and from teachers in settings other than the school. Her approach to the evaluation was inappropriate, using several tools three other psychologists told me had been discredited long before, seating a 6 year old in a chair meant for adults making it difficult for him to sit comfortably, making recommendations for services she confirmed when asked that my child would never have qualified for but were responsive to the school's requests for services that would require less work on their part. Her evaluation served no purpose other than to cost me thousands of dollars. I have worked professionally with many psychiatrists and psychologists through my work. I cannot recommend Dr. Kaplan under any circumstances. Ever.
