About
Virginia C. Renfroe, MA, LPC
Welcome! In my practice, I see individuals, couples, and families. My approach is eclectic, holistic, and depth oriented, and my style can be described as compassionate, conversational, and straightforward. Among other modalities, I utilize expressive arts, EMDR, and solution-focused approaches for the resolution of distress. I have trained in EMDR - Part 1 & 2, Reality Therapy, and Body-centered Processing.
My early experience with an in-patient population as well as in out-patient community counseling agencies in New Mexico underpins my understanding of trauma, substance abuse, grief & loss, mood disorders, abuse & neglect, and relationship & family conflict. My experience as a mother and grandmother, and practicing visual artist, grounds my understanding of process. My undergraduate degree is in Art Education K-12, and I hold a Masters in Counseling Psychology with Emphasis in Depth Psychology.
Clients often come to counseling simply in order to feel better or to improve a troubled relationship, be it marital or family -- in the latter case, often involving a child or teen. I respect the courage it takes to seek outside help in these matters. I look forward to the opportunity to assist you.
