My parents forced me to see Dr. Wagner 3x a week from ages 12-18. I was told my physical pain was actually psychological, was misdiagnosed with borderline personality disorder, and put on meds the FDA still hasn't approved for use in minors due to side effects.. such as increased risk of suicide. Of course, this was ignored, and my suicide attempts were seen as proof my BPD instead.

I took myself off the meds when I turned 19, and after some heinous withdraw (something else these pharmaceutical companies have been sued over), 80% of my depression and anxiety went away. Who'd have thought?

Then, in my late 20s, after years and years of medical dismissal and insecurities over whether or not my experiences living in daily pain were "real", I was diagnosed with both a collagen disorder and a genetic auto-immune disorder.

Wagner isn't to blame for the prescriptions since she isn't psychiatrist, but it's wild to me that she never even considered their role in my issues. Nor did she think a child's complaints of pain might be genuine. Beyond all that though, when I hit puberty, I told her I was very uncomfortable being around my adopted father due to his leering and weirdly sexual behavior.

Her response was, "All fathers view their daughters sexually." Cool. Good stuff there doctor. Please sort through your own baggage before telling children that their dad's predatory behavior is acceptable. Thanks.
