Dr. Wolf was recommended to us by the Randolph animal shelter when we adopted our ferret. He specializes in exotics so we took several ferrets to him over the years and they received excellent care. We also have cats which we had started at a local vet in our town. 1 of our cats developed pancreatitis and the local vet didn't have the equipment to do scans so we went to Dr. Wolf. He took such good care of our beloved cat that we switched all of pets to him. He ha great compassion as do all his staff and our pets are in experienced, knowledgeable hands.
I have a cockatiel that developed a terrible 'plucking' problem, that resulted in the denuding of the underside of both her wings. She was very moody, and had lost her playfulness...this had been going on for some months.
I took her to see Dr. Wolf, who applied a swab to her chest, touched his fingers to to wet area, dismissed my questions and then told me: "Congratulations! Your bird has a new hobby!" He said there was no way to know why the bird was plucking, and all I could do was to hope it stopped.
At that point, I decided to make the 1 hour drive to Amwell Bird Hospital, where they have a Board-Certified Avian Vet. He tested her stool, and gave her a thorough exam. Afterwards, he told me she had a long-term yeast infection, and was malnourished because of the all-seed diet she was on. He gave me oral drops for the infection, and put her on a diet of Harrison's pellets. 1 year later, my bird is happy, healthy and her feathers are all grown back. 'New Hobby' my foot!
