I am a Christian clinical psychologist in private practice in Palo Alto who welcomes people of all faiths and also nonbelievers.
My primary theoretical orientation is Jungian, which means that I focus on unconscious processes, including dreams, to help people identify root causes of problems, work through personal issues, and make meaningful, lasting changes in their lives. This work is deeply personal and ultimately spiritual in nature. At times, other approaches are necessary. Because everyone is different, I tailor treatment according to individual needs.
For some time, the field of psychology has been open to the idea that spirituality has an important role to play in mental health. For example, studies show that people who are involved in spiritual life have lower rates of anxiety and despair. In my work, I have found this to be true among my patients. For this reason, I welcome discussion of spirituality in the context of psychological work.
ServicesMy areas of specialization include the treatment of depression, anxiety and stress; life transitions, such as divorce, relocation, change of employment status, and physical illness; psychological resilience; relationship enhancement; facilitation of creative processes; career counseling; professional development. I also offer some limited corporate consulting services.
