Stay away from this therapist and don’t pay his ridiculous high fees. I chose this therapist to help my child transition easier through our divorce process and not as an evaluator. Thank God I did not choose him as my 604(b) evaluator. He is a master manipulator and in the beginning will give you the appearance of a down to earth unbiased professional but ultimately he will side with the parent that holds the decision-making of attending his sessions. He is absolutely not trustworthy and he does not have an opinion of his own, he very much sides with the child representative and even worst he mimics the opinion of the custody 604(b) evaluator. The 604(b) evaluator does not always have an objective opinion to begin with. Trust me he does not care about your child he left my child in a boiling hot room to wait until he held the meeting with me and my ex-wife thankfully another person working in that office noticed that my child almost fainted in there. So please take it from me he doesn’t care all he cares for is the money he gets from you and believe me he will get it because he is backed by the 604(b) evaluator even if you refuse to pay for whatever reason either because you don’t agree with his services or simply because you don’t afford his outrageous fees. My child confessed to me that he told him about the things that really bother him however his reply to my child was: “I don’t believe you!” So if you can’t tell your therapist what bothers you and you get shut down like that then what’s the point of such therapy sessions. Not to mention that my child confessed to me that Dr. John Palen M Ph.D. usually during sessions instead of doing what he is paid to do he pays his bills online, does office work that is not related to my child’s therapy and he is doing things on his cell phone on every session. I personally find it very unprofessional. Dr. Palen John M Ph.D. does not properly evaluate the situation and as I previously mentioned he does not have an objective opinion of his own and supports baseless diagnoses such as ADHD in order to extend the length of the therapy sessions just to make that dollar. I have asked him on multiple occasions via email to have a in person meeting since I am also paying for my child’s sessions to discuss with him my child’s progress and his professional opinion as to how much longer my child needs therapy. Unfortunately he vehemently denied all my requests followed by emails full of hatred and literally blaming me for everything under the moon accusing me of things they’re far from being under his field of expertise and have nothing to do with my child’s therapy sessions, very odd fellow to say the least. So if the court suggests that you need a child therapist or a 604(b) evaluator then please do yourself a favor and look for someone else and make sure you do your research into your child therapist because you will be stuck with this person in your child’s life for a long time as I am stuck with him for many years now not to mention the repercussions of an unfounded diagnosis that can hunt your child for years to come.
