The provdors are good. With limited resources they provide well for patients. Sometimes there can be a substantial wait and getting someone by phone is nearly impossible, but that said, I prefer to go here because it's low key, personal and meets the need.

I was a client or patient of Spindletop MHMR services. I was seen and place of a several medications for help with my bipolar / manic depression symptoms.
Now this is coming from a company that will tell you that do not make appointments. I have been there many times to get an appointment to continue with the medications that was helping me cope and live as normal as a life as possible. I actually felt alive and happy more than I ever had I felt normal for a change. The medications were working and I felt more engaged and alive with my life than I have felt in years. However they have a policy that if you do not see their practitioner or doctor within one to 3 months after the rxs have be written you will not get any more meds. Now this is coming from a company that does not schedule appointments. It's a first come first serve basis. I arrived at there facility right after the unlocked the doors just to find out that they already had 5 patients on the books to see the doctor. I thought how can this be. They don't schedule appointments and I was the first person in the room. She could not give me an answer and said if I was willing to wait then maybe someone may call and cancel their appointment and then I could have theirs. I told her I was out of my meds and that they do not call in for refills and that I would need to see the doctor to get them. I was then seen by a social worker and after the conversation agreed that I needed to see the doctor. I was turned away and was told if I get here early tomorrow when they open then I may have a chance to get an chance to see the doctor or a practitioner. Long story short I went 3 other times just to be turned away due to scheduled patients who did not cancel. They knew I was out of my medications and that didn't seem to bother them. They are not able to handle the patient load and should be closed. They have done more harm than good. Poorly managed and underfunded. I know everything has a price but lives should not pay the price for a lost soul..........
