About

Maria Gerlich, M.A., P.T.

Maria is a Clinical Physical Therapist and Co-Founder of New York Physical Therapy. She has extensive experience in Osteopathic Manual Therapy and physical therapy in home and office settings, with special focus on traumatic brain injury and working with patients with orthopedic and neurological diagnoses.

From Maria, about New York Physical Therapy:

New York Physical Therapy grew out of desire to create a warm and healing environment where we could spend the time necessary to listen to our clients and understand the factors affecting their health, to provide thorough, individually tailored care.

We learned in earlier experiences at the Mount Sinai Medical Center and other outpatient settings that a holistic approach is the most effective way of helping people to heal. We are fortunate to have assembled a team of highly skilled therapists who are uniquely qualified to evaluate and treat a wide range of conditions and diagnoses. Our therapists are noted experts in their field, having published in peer-reviewed journals and serving as adjunct faculty at a variety of physical therapy programs within the city. They are innovative, dedicated, empathic people: the kind of PTs we would send our own family members to for treatment.

At New York Physical Therapy...

We Listen:

We are committed to a one-on-one, holistic approach, to treat you as a whole person, not just as an injured part or two.
We respect your time: we will see you on time for your appointment, and we will use your time well.
We will answer all your questions, every step of the way.

We Apply Our Skills:

Most of our practitioners been practicing over 20 years.
Our experience includes several years in multi-disciplinary rotation at Mt. Sinai Medical Center, where we helped a variety of patients with a wide range of conditions, in outpatient, inpatient and acute care.
Several of us have completed five years of advanced training in Osteopathic Manual Therapy at the Canadian College of Osteopathy.

We Give You a Plan:

Your treatment will be tailored to your needs, your lifestyle and your goals.
We can communicate and work effectively with your doctor and your insurer (including Medicare).
You will leave NYPT with greater strength, flexibility and possibility.
We will give you the understanding you will need to maintain good health and function long after you leave NYPT.
