When you visit our practice, Dr. Tartagni, Dr. Cohen and our team will perform a thorough assessment of your oral health. As a new patient, you'll receive a complete evaluation of your teeth and oral tissues. If your bite is misaligned or you have missing teeth, a diagnostic impression may be required. During our examination, we will use digital X-rays and an intraoral camera so that you can see images of your teeth and gums greatly magnified on a computer monitor. This will allow you to better understand the problems we find and our proposed solutions.
Dr. Tartagni and Dr. Cohen will always address general and restorative dental issues first, such as cavities or worn fillings, gum disease, or damaged teeth. You'll be presented with a comprehensive treatment plan detailing services and procedures required to re-establish healthy teeth and gums. Born and raised in Connecticut, Dr. Tartagni began his career in dentistry at the University of Connecticut, graduating in 1985. He entered private practice after graduation and has continued to improve and expand on his knowledge since then. One of the most well educated dentists in the state, Dr. Tartagni continues an extensive postgraduate education regimen, which includes thousands of hours of advanced coursework.
Training
Dr. Tartagni became certified in the placement of dental implants shortly after graduation by completing a Maxicourse residency in Dental Implantology at Brookdale Hospital, part of NYU's curriculum for advanced dental studies. Also at NYU, he completed coursework with the Rosenthal Institute, part of their Aesthetic Advantage Track program. These programs included advanced studies in laser dental treatment, tooth-colored restorations, soft tissue surgery, and comprehensive clinical diagnosis.
To enhance his skills, Dr. Tartagni has also attended seminars at several well-respected institutions including the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies, the Dawson Center for Advanced Dental Studies, UCLA School of Dentistry, TUFTS University School of Dental Medicine, and the Vantage Institute. With several hundred hours of continuing education each year, including Periolase and oral conscious sedation training, Dr. Tartagni provides patients with comprehensive, contemporary dental care. He was one of the first in Connecticut to purchase and become certified in the use of the dental laser, which has helped put our practice at the forefront of dental technology.
Dr. Scott Cohen, DDS has returned from Iraq and joined the Shoreline Dental Care, LLC team of Milford and West Haven, CT! Dr. Cohen is a graduate of New York University College of Dentistry. He served in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with an early promotion to Lieutenant Commander. Dr. Cohen resides in Milford with his wife Olivia and is now accepting patients at both locations
