Very often the key to breaking free from these circles are a few basic points:

Awareness:

Identifying the issue we are struggling with

Understanding and accepting that we developed coping mechanisms for this challenge at a time when we had age appropriate resources.

These coping resources may not work as well today as they did when we were younger. Our maturity level now opens doors for us to access a variety of more effective resources. However, that means taking the courage to face our fears, be patient with our tender fearful selves and let the part of us that has had the opportunity to grow , negotiate with our fearful selves and gently encourage us to try different things to move on up and grow.

Be consistent with following through.

Once we make a commitment to try something new. It can become challenging to stay consistent. The natural tendencies to slip into old comforting habits can be strong. However a conscious awareness to stay consistent is the key to easing into a new healthy way of coping.

In therapy, I work with you, using your own experiences, your language, and your strengths to get there. Working collaboratively together, you can break free from your restrictive patterns and embrace your opportunities.

We get stuck in patterns that we learn early on in our lives and whilst the rest of us grows up and develops, some of the areas that we get stuck in, limits our growth. Our human nature which is growth oriented, keeps motivating us to move on and up, to grow, but its when we cannot break free of our restrictive patterns that we end up moving in circles instead of moving up.\
