About
ERIN MAYER, D.C.
Dr. Mayer is a board certified, licensed chiropractic physician. “I found chiropractic in the midst of my first year in optometry school. The eye just never quite piqued my interest as much as I hoped it would. I was always more fascinated in how the body works as a whole. In chiropractic, I found the vehicle that I was looking for to help people experience better overall health in their own lives, rather than solely focusing on eye care.”
Dr. Mayer received her Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) degree from the National University of Health Sciences in Chicago, Illinois. Previously, Dr. Mayer had achieved her Bachelor of Science degree majoring in biology, with a minor in chemistry at Indiana University. She has also received her certification of 300+ hours in Traditional Chinese Acupuncture, as well as post-professional, specialized training in Kinesiology Taping, McKenzie Therapy, Concussion Grading and Management, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization, Cosmetic Acupuncture and Facial Rejuvenation, and Erchonia Cold Laser Therapy.
"It's important for my patients to receive individualized personal care. I always take into account my patients’ belief systems, attitudes, feelings, social relationships and environment. I also look at my patients’ patterns of eating, working, resting, sleeping and exercising. I believe in providing constant patient education, attentive listening, and resources for both curing and preventing illnesses and injuries. By combining chiropractic care, functional movement exercises, and clean eating, we can potentiate the body’s ability to heal itself. Habitual poor posture, sedentary lifestyles, dysfunctional movement patterns, and an overweight population are the leading causes of pain, dysfunction, and poor health in our society, I teach and coach my patients to understand the connection between pain and poor movement. I look forward to helping you get well and stay well.”
After a full day’s work, you’ll find Dr. Mayer at her Crossfit gym or at home perfecting her culinary skills in the kitchen. “I’m a firm believer in practicing what you preach. I regularly hike, mountain bike, snow and water ski. I strive to eat an innately congruent diet high in consumption of vegetables, organic pasture-fed meats and cold-water fish, with a minimal dairy and grain intake. I also actively limit my exposure to daily environmental toxins.”
