About

Darlene Cook, DVM, CVA

The Bluffs Pet Clinic was started in 1982 with the mission of providing quality small animal care. In 2001, Dr. Darlene Cook purchased the clinic with a goal of providing excellence in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery. We have continually worked to improve the way pets receive their needed care and became an Accredited Veterinary Hospital in 2005.

We were evaluated on over 900 Standards of Care in order to become an accredited Animal Hospital by the American Animal Hospital Association. Only 19% of all Veterinary Hospitals in North America have met these standards and sought accreditation. This attests to the high level of care you can expect your pet to receive at The Bluffs Pet Clinic. Our client reviews continue to support the quality of care pet owners and their pets have received at our clinic. Visit our website to read over 100 reviews our clients have left in praise of our clinic, Dr.'s, staff and services.

We offer the services you require for your new puppy or kitten, senior pet, or adult pet. We also offer state of the art equipment such as a Surgical Laser and Therapeutic Laser for your pet's safety and comfort. We work with boarded surgeons who are happy to perform your pet's more complicated surgeries at our clinic for your convenience.

We have been offering alternative health options for animals since 2008. Many times our Western medicine does not provide enough for our pets and we have found that by offering Acupuncture and Herbal as well as Homeopathic therapies, our pets live longer and have a better quality of life.

Cancer is common in older pets and we recognize that western medicine does not always offer the best options in cancer care. Our Traditional Chinese Medicine has helped countless animals live a better quality of life and frequently a longer life than with Western Medicine alone.

Services New puppy and kitten packets provide you with everything you need to know to get your new pet off to a good start. From feeding advice to vaccinations to protect your pet based on their risks, to parasite control, to scheduling their spay or neuter surgeries, The Bluffs Pet Clinic is a Full Service Veterinary Clinic and able to provide all of these services.

We offer Surgical Laser which aids in minimizing bleeding, healing, pain control and recovery for your pet's surgery.

Our Therapeutic Laser assists animals with arthritis and other joint problems, back injuries, wounds, pancreatitis, allergies just to name a few benefits.

Boarded Veterinary Surgeons will perform your pet's more complicated surgeries both orthopedic as well as soft tissue when required at our clinic.

Acupuncture and Herbal therapies have helped numerous pets with problems such as Arthritis, Allergies, Behavior Problems, Seizures, Liver Disease, Kidney Disease, Chronic Diarrhea, Poor appetite and Cancer.

We have a full diagnostic clinic to include digital radiology, Blood workups, urinalysis and intestinal parasite exams as well as cytology to evaluate lumps, ear problems and skin problems. This assists us in providing a diagnosis that directs us to the most appropriate treatment for your pet.

We also have a dedicated dental suite which includes full dental radiology to evaluate your pet's dental health both above and below the gum line. This allows us to identify diseased teeth that need to be removed for the health and comfort of your pet.

Our anesthetic monitoring is second to none to insure your pet's safe anesthetic event. All of our surgical and dental patients will have an i.v. catheter placed to receive medicines and fluids to help flush out the anesthetic drugs. This provides for a quicker recovery. Wouldn't you like to be wrapped in a warm blanket post op while you recover from surgery? Our patients receive just that.

Pain control is very important at The Bluffs Pet Clinic. We provide pain control prior to, during and post-op for your pet's comfort. Pain control is also important to us with our non-surgical patients. We will assess your pet's level of pain and provide a treatment plan to minimize or eliminate any pain for your pet.

We offer a vaccine protocol based on your pet's risks. We will commonly ask to split up your pet's vaccines to help reduce any adverse reactions to any vaccines your pet receives. We also offer Vaccine Titers which are a measure of your pet's immunity to certain viruses that we commonly vaccinate for. If a pet is protected based on the titers, we are often able to forego vaccines for a period of time.

The doggie day care associated with our clinic, Howl at the Moon, is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday thru Friday.
