Education Dr. Burgdorf earned his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Notre Dame. He received his Medical Degree from Tulane University Medical School in New Orleans while concurrently earning his Masters degree in Public Health (M.P.H.) from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.
Training He began his general surgery residency at Tulane in New Orleans, training at the infamous Charity hospital. While there, he was the recipient of the I. Mims Gage teaching award, the Humanism & Excellence in Teaching Award and was an inductee in the Gold Humanism Honor Society. His training was interrupted by the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina and he finished his general surgery residency at the University of Mississippi in Jackson, where he was the administrative chief resident of education. Dr. Burgdorf went on to complete a residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Mississippi. During this training, he spent six months at The Face and Body Center learning cosmetic surgery techniques with some of the acknowledged masters in the field.

Burgdorf is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, the only organization recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties for certifying surgeons to perform cosmetic surgery and plastic surgery procedures.
