This little micro-community provides personal assisted living, such as foot care, catheter management, sitting, standing, walking, activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, etc.), toileting, and medication management. Maple Leaf Home II serves as a hospice to care for elders with minor illnesses. Special care is also provided, which includes, Alzheimer's, arthritis, asthma, diabetic (oral medication and self-administered insulin injection), cancer, depression, heart disease or heart failure, osteoporosis, stroke, short term care (respite), breathing support with oxygen, colostomy or urostomy, emphysema or other lung disease (COPD), tendency to fall, and severe brain injury. Outside agencies provide a great deal of care for these senior citizens. Northwest Hospital, rated 88 out of 100, is located only a couple of miles away. The senior citizens are each provided with their own private bedroom. The elderly will be treated with various ethnic meals that are both low in sugar and sodium. Special diets will also be provided for residents who are diabetic. The staff works all day and night around the clock in this residential care facility to ensure that the residents are safe, healthy, and, most importantly, happy. There are a multitude of languages spoken in this home, which are English, Spanish, French, German, Romanian, Russian, and American Sign Language. Senior citizens will be given a chance to meet everyone in this micro-community, and even communicate in multiple languages. This multi-cultural home may even give residents a whole new experience, what with all the ethnic meals provided as well as the diversity of the residents themselves. Seniors will be thrilled to spend the remainder of their golden years (or part of it if they are in respite) here at Maple Leaf Home II.
