Dr Quefatieh graduated first in his medical class of 400 at Aleppo University School of Medicine in Aleppo, Syria, and undertook an internship in general surgery before moving to the United States for his internal medicine residency at the University of Maryland's Harbor Hospital Center in Baltimore.
