Stephen M. Sims, MD has been practicing medicine since 1993 when earned a degree in medicine from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. There he continued residency training in anesthesiology and fellowship in pain management. Dr. Sims served as an assistant professor at UTMB until he was offered the position of Medical Director at the Huntsville Surgery Center in Huntsville, Texas. After serving as director for four years, Dr. Sims opened North Lakes Pain Consultants and has been serving chronic pain patients in North Houston since 2002.
Dr. Sims balances his work between serving the patients of NLPC and training other doctors at M.D. Anderson Hospital where he serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor. He is honored as an Expert Panelist by the Texas Medical Board and is double board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in Pain Management and Anesthesiology. Dr. Sims is an active member of the American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association, American Society of Anesthesiologists, Texas Society of Anesthesiologists, and the Texas Pain Society.
Dr. Sims is an active figure in the North Houston community and is considered a leader among his peers and patients. The doctor prides himself on his integrity and honesty, and works diligently to find the most appropriate method to control his patient’s pain.
