About
Galina Olivera-Celdran, PhD, LCMHCS, Founder and Counselor
As a counselor, I find great joy in helping others find joy, meaning, and hope in the midst of life challenges. I provide counseling for depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship difficulties. I take time to listen to your story and get to know you as a person, so I can best understand you and your goals that you want to achieve in counseling.
I hold MA in Christian Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and PhD in Counseling from UNC at Charlotte. Additionally, I am trained in marriage counseling, pre-marital counseling, substance abuse counseling, career counseling and trauma counseling.
My approach to marriage counseling and pre-marital counseling is based on proven counseling interventions from Gottman Method to Couples Therapy and Prepare-Enrich. I will work with you and your spouse to help you with improving your communication skills, conflict resolution skills, and will guide you in how to strengthen your friendship, build trust and rekindle the love you used to have for each other. In individual counseling for depression and anxiety, I provide a safe place and a non-judgmental attitude to help my clients develop courage and skills to connect with others, think more positively, and overcome their fears. I utilize my training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) in trauma counseling to help those that experienced traumatic events in their past to gain control over the intrusive thoughts and memories, and find relief from post-traumatic symptoms. When the focus of therapy is career counseling, we will spend time discovering your unique God-given design, explore your talents, abilities, skills and experiences in order to find which career utilizes the most of who you are as a person and therefore will bring you the most joy.
I integrate Biblical principles with sound psychological insights for those who want to incorporate their Christian faith and practices into their healing process. So many times we base our self-esteem on what others have told us rather than finding rest in the truth of how valuable, unique and important we are in God's eyes. I assist my clients in uncovering those lies and learning how to bask in the love, forgiveness and acceptance that God offers to us. The core of Christian counseling is learning about the character of God and His will for us, so we can live a life that is full of meaning, purpose, and satisfying relationships with God, self and others.
I am the founder and therapist at Peaceful Place Christian Counseling. My office address is 1811 Sardis Rd North Suite 207, Charlotte, NC 28270. Please, call 704-228-3377 or go to my website at www.peacefulplacecounseling.org to request an appointment. I respond to all inquiries within 24 hrs and would be happy to answer any questions you might have about the process of therapy or my approach.
