Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare: I initially became interested in medicine while spending a year of service in Tanzania after college. I played witness to a severe shortage in medical personnel and supplies while seeing the gratitude people had to receive any care at all. Since then, I have found the field to be intellectually rewarding, while being a great way to serve the community. I am interested in all aspects of medicine, from projects of public health and socioeconomic influences all the way down to interacting one-on-one with individual patients and developing long-term relationships with them.
