Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare: At about 10 years old, I told my parents I wanted to be a doctor. I think my parents thought it was a phase; what 10-year-old makes career declarations that actually hold true?! I think they started to take me seriously when my favorite TV show was surgery on The Learning Channel. I have always been fascinated by the elegance, science, and mystery of medicine. Add in the social aspect of medicine-getting to know your patients-and this extrovert was in heaven. Fast forward to college, and I discovered the PA profession, which allowed the perfect balance of career and personal life. What I want my patients to know about me: Most days I can honestly say that I love my job.
