Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare: I grew up in a family of many doctors so I initially wanted to forge my own path. I went to college in Virginia to study Spanish and business. However, after a few years of studying this, I realized that my true passion lay within the sciences as well as with helping people. As soon as I realized I could combined these within the domain of medicine, I changed course and directed myself toward medical school. I chose cardiology because I was intrigued by the complexity of the patients, the speed at which it moved and by the fact that we could fix the underlying cause of a patient's symptoms.
