Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare: I worked as a RN for 15 years prior to deciding to go back to school for a masters in science in family practice, nurse practitioner program. My concentration was cardiology, working with post-operative OHS patients, MI, CHF patients. I worked in preventive cardiology Coumadin clinic many years as well. My decision to go back to school was patient-driven. I had many patients feeling frustrated, not understanding why they were taking medicine and feeling their physicians were not listening to them. I felt I could listen and take the time to educate about illness and medications. What I do when I'm not seeing patients: When I'm not seeing patients, I am busy with my children.
